There have been numerous courses that have explored the knowledge and competencies of business operation. Addressing marketing including social media, accounting, human resources, communication, computer skills, insurance and legal has given me a well rounded understanding of the business environment that I will be operating in. In first year, I prepared a marketing plan with Matthew Dau, Tristan Hassanzadeh and Sam Scott in which we analysed the seven components of a situation analysis for a backpacking business in Muskoka and then prepared a marketing plan. In second year, I undertook an intensive assessment of an industry, identified the target market, competition, land issues, governing agencies, trends, marketing, SWOT and staffing and prepared several reports that summarized my findings. The marketing plan and a report on demographics and barriers is available below. Both of these reports received full grades.
My ability to research and analyse a segment of the outdoor adventure industry and develop strategies to capitalize on opportunities in the adventure industry is demonstrated.
